Fee Only Financial Planners
Fee Only financial planners are financial planners that don't accept comission from financial companies such as mutual funds, when they refer you to these financial products.
These financial planners only derive their income from the fees that they charge you for their services.
Some people believe that by choosing a fee only financial planner they are getting truely independent financial advice, however, this does not mean that normal financial planners (who accept comissions) will recommend a financial product to you just because they will earn a higher commission. Aslong as you choose a financial planner that is upfront about their comissions, you should be fine.
Choosing a fee only financial planner is really a matter of preference. More information on how to choose a financial planner can be found on our choosing a financial planner page.
